Turtle Back Theater is an international theater collective dedicated to exploring
and challenging the performer-audience relationship. The art
of theater for Turtle Back is, at its essence, a tool for transformation.
It is a means of effecting change in the performers, in the audience,
in the physical performance space, and hopefully, in the grander
structure of society in which the theatre is created. Turtle Back's
members are driven to explore the art of performance to its fullest
potential
while simultaneously challenging and redesigning its form and practice.
Turtle Back Theater productions invite the audience to redefine its role
in the current theatrical contract between performer and observer. The
audience, through its own power of awareness and attention, is asked
to become a co-creator of the theatrical event.
